This platform bed is great, but I wouldn't trust shipment estimates. I had my shipment pushed back nearly a week which was weird since the package wasn't too far away. Then again, I've never liked UPS for that reason. Anyway, I received my bed in a conservative box, everything was tightly packed together with styrofoam on all sides of the particle boards. This bed is made of particle board and is really easy to assemble, I assembled the bed within an hour and a half through fatigue. Once I finished the assembly, the bed was ready for my mattress (which arrived 3-5 days before the bed despite ordering the mattress much later) and looks great. Some people said the bed is impossible to move, well, you guys are weak. I'm 5'7" and 160lbs, I can slide this bed around all day. This bed weighs 125lbs+ the weight of your mattress (mine's 35lbs, so that makes 160lbs in total) and has little cushions you attach according to the instructions. Now, if you have carpeting then it's easy to understand the trouble of moving the bed, but if you have a clean floor (I recommend sweeping and mopping BEFORE assembly, then assemble the bed when the floor dries as you'll be covering that with no way to clean) then there should be virtually no problem to push this bed. You'll have to squat low and know how to push low-level objects to be able to push this bed with ease. I have this bed to remove the need of a box spring AND a bed since this gives me the option of both. If you try to move this bed and pieces move individually, then that means you didn't screw the pieces tightly, you missed a few pegs, OR you screwed the pieces too tight to the point where the screws made tears inside the particle board. Instructions state not to use a drill, but to use a manual screwdriver, therefore some people may have screwed up there. Assemble this right and the bed moves as a single mass, mine doesn't wobble, it's very sturdy. May I add that this baby can take 400lbs? Yeah, my gf, our daughter, and I plus a few laptops, luggage, and whatever else we loaded on the bed at one time totaled over 400lbs, but I'll say 400 to be safe. The color really is a few shades darker than the picture and the platform where the mattress goes is the same color as shown above. I don't care that it is, as well as the back (which looked like the manufacturer painted the inside by mistake, but that's probably the design for the headboard) since I won't be constantly lifting up my mattress to stare at a tan color. The bed is a dark chocolate/espresso color and it looks marvelous. They have black pegs to put into screw sockets so they're not too noticeable and prevent scratching, so you'll see the difference between black and espresso as clear as day. Also, the bed was meant to be low, the specifications state the height of the bed. If you want extra height, load a boxspring and at least an 8" mattress on top. I got a 6" mattress since I was on a budget, but I appreciate the shortness since I can actually lean back onto the bed without readjusting my legs. This height also helps me to get up since that requires more effort from a lower height. The advantage helps when you have AC as cold air is at the lower half of the room, so you'll be nice and cool in the summer.I prefer wood board over particle board, so I actually plan to replicate this bed with wood and slowly replace/improve each piece of particle for wood. I also plan on sealing the bottom completely to keep the potential of insects and spiders from taking refuge inside the bed. If you plan on moving out, you'll have to take apart the bed; Oh boo hoo, you have to take apart most beds to move out anyway, so what's the problem? I also plan on reinforcing the support in the middle of the bed by dividing the even sectors by half perpendicular to the boards supporting the middle, thus creating boxes on the inside to strengthen the bed (it will add another 20-30lbs, but that's my idea). I feel this bed is tough enough, elegant enough, and modest enough for anybody on a budget. You pay less than $150 for this bed on most sites before taxes and shipping anyway, so why expect something superb? For that, go to places like R&F or Ashley Furniture where you pay top dollar for sturdy beds made out of great materials. For the price and materials, this bed is worth it, just handle with care and hope your shipper does that as well. I received mine a month and a half ago, so all I can say is so far, so good. 5 stars all the way, except for shipping, I give that a 4 for delayed service. This bed was worth the $129 I paid.
